SDGs in Vision 2030

The 17 SDGs and their associated 169 targets were agreed upon by all countries at the United Nations in September 2015 and constitute a shared global framework of development priorities to 2030. They aim to bring an end to extreme poverty, promote prosperity and well-being for all, protect the environment and address climate change, and encourage good governance and peace and security.

Saudi Vision 2030 charts out the path Saudi Arabia will take to build a prosperous future in all development areas. The Vision rests on three thematic pillars a vibrant society, a thriving economy, and an ambitious nation and outlines a set of goals and targets for the Kingdom to achieve in the areas of economic development, social cohesion, and environmental protection. To ensure the realization of the Vision, a set of executive programs have been developed and are being launched in due course. Each program includes detailed objectives and action plans, as well as specific targets and indicators to track progress over a preidentified timeframe.

The Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries (poor, rich, and middle-income) to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go together with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs, including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection.

Saudi Arabia has always reaffirmed its commitment to the sustainability goals during its participation in various regional and international conferences and forums. The government promotes the role of the private sector and charitable societies and associations in the realization of the SDGs through development of methodologies and proposals designed to improve the productivity and efficiency of the public, private, and third sectors.
