Program Description
The Bachelor of Nursing Program at Batterjee Medical College is designed to prepare graduates with the knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to face the challenges and dynamics in health care services.
This program will educate undergraduates to provide safe, competent and compassionate nursing care that is grounded in theory and professional standards. The students will be prepared to practice nursing work collaboratively with individuals, families, groups, and communities in a variety of health settings: critical care, public health, mental health, nursing management, pediatric, obstetrics/gynecology and nursing research, to seek optimal health and well-being of all citizens.
Education also recognizes the characteristics unique to each individual and provides a process for the development and expression of each student's unique abilities and talents. There is a strong emphasis on critical and reflective inquiry and working in collaborative partnerships with clients to promote their health and well being. Students will pass through theoretical, practical and clinical work settings. Innovative teaching strategies are used, such as simulations, role play and problem solving.
Graduates will demonstrate strong leadership qualities that support an inter-professional collaborative model of client centered care. They will be able to positively influence the future of nursing practice and health care under an Islamic context with a strong understanding of the global health care environment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Upon completing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, graduates will be able to develop of skills, knowledge, processes, and attitudes necessary for successful functioning as a productive citizen in professional nursing work.
Program Structure
- The first year
- the students learn basic sciences which are necessary for health profession education. Courses in this year include Medical terminology, English , Introduction to professional nursing, chemistry, biology, physics, psychology, Computer, Islamic medical ethics.
- The second year
- is the stage of starting nursing students with fundamentals of nursing, Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, pathology, microbiology.
- The third year
- is the starting of the real nursing specialties and clinical with Medical surgical nursing, Maternity and obstetric nursing, pediatric nursing, and pharmacology for nursing.
- The fourth year
- the students study and practice psychiatric nursing, nursing management, family and community nursing, emergency nursing, nursing research, biostatistics, and forensic medicine.
- The fifth year
- is the internship year that prepares the student for the real nursing life

BMC's Nursing Program was established in 2009-2010. The program grants a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and focuses on the core values of care, health and safety. In a context of respect and high-quality performance, the Nursing Program achieves the vision of becoming a milestone in preparing qualified graduates to provide effective and competitive nursing care to meet the needs of all levels of private and public health institutions. By keeping up with global developments through advanced educational programs and continuous self- learning skills, the BMC Program of Nursing excels amongst international programs.
The Nursing Program encompasses a fine selection of faculty members in various disciplines related to nursing. The program cooperates with many hospitals in Jeddah to facilitate the training of students. The Training (Internship) team works closely with each and every student to ensure excellence and effectiveness in providing nursing care.
In our program, we are always keen on implementing different teaching methods to provide the best possible academic environment for our students and faculty. We make sure that the main duty is to serve students by improving their skills and abilities and supporting them in all aspects in order to foster a new responsible generation of students.
